Medway Queen – A Story Worth Telling

Medway Queen is one of Britain’s most remarkable historic vessels – built in 1924, serving as an excursion paddle steamer, and famously undertaking seven rescue missions during the Dunkirk evacuation in 1940, making her one of the celebrated “Little Ships of Dunkirk.” Today she stands preserved at Gillingham Pier, and her ongoing restoration continues to inspire people of all ages.

We are always delighted to work with journalists, broadcasters, historians, and storytellers to share the extraordinary history and heritage of Medway Queen with audiences around the world. Whether your interest is in maritime history, wartime stories, heritage restoration, community projects, volunteer involvement or commemorative events, we welcome opportunities to collaborate and support your coverage.

Our team can offer:

  • Press information and historical context
  • Interviews with volunteers and project leaders
  • Access to archive images and film
  • Invitations to restoration milestones and events

We would love to help you tell the story of this iconic steam paddle vessel – from her heyday on the Medway and Thames Estuary, through her wartime service, to her inspiring preservation today.
